On 15 November 2024, the Copernicus Science Centre opened the DigiPatch LivingLAB exhibition, inviting visitors to participate in research on the psychological, social, and cultural mechanisms underlying the emergence of (micro)identities, their online dynamics, and their role in social change. Located within the Centre, which attracts over one million visitors annually, the LivingLAB features five flexible research stations that can be adapted for different scientific projects. This unique setting enables researchers to collect data from a diverse audience while engaging the public in the research process and promoting science communication. Between November 2024 and November 2025, 86,638 visitors participated in DigiPatch studies across all stations, contributing a total of 4,154 hours of interaction. In August 2025, one of the research stations was translated into Spanish and launched at Parque de las Ciencias, in collaboration with museum staff.

In the context of ‘Tetrarchs, Transforming Data Reuse in Archaeology’, Chloé Dierckx collaborated with archaeologists and residents of Toumba Serron, Greece. The artist looked for ways to inform the local community about the excavations taking place in their village and to make them feel connected to their local history.
Dierckx asked residents the question: “What object of yours do you think archaeologist of the future will find?”. The responses were incorporated into a hand drawn card set, together with drawings of archaeological artefacts. Designed to be reshuffled and rearranged, the cards present a non-linear narrative in which past and present intertwine. Through this, the artist reflects on the continuity and shared experiences of humans across time.

This fact sheet offers practical guidelines for implementing smart technologies in collaborative housing with focus on shared spaces and technologies. It summarises the key results of an empirical study on the lived experience of smart home technologies in a large Nordic cohousing block. The fact sheet is targeted at technology and service providers, housing developers, architects, and other professionals in the housing, construction, and real estate management fields. The fact sheet is part of the EU funded SmartUp project (2022–2025) exploring the digital transformation of the home.
