Crisis of trust and solidarity, challenges to democratic governance and European economies or citizens vs. online hate – those were only a few important topics raised during the NORFACE GOVERNANCE Mid-Term Conference 2022 at University of Vienna. The event was full of interesting insights about social challenges we have been facing, presented by researchers and non-academic stakeholders during panel sessions and workshops. . Keynote speakers prof. dr. Carolien van Ham (Radbound University Nijmegen) and prof. dr. Hanspeter Kriesi (European University Institute) referred to an essential question – “What can we learn from autocratization processes globally to strengthen democracy in Europe?”. The NORFACE GOVERNANCE conference, created also a great opportunity for representatives of the CHANSE funded projects REDACT, POLARVIS and AUTO-WELF to share their new research perspectives . The projects had been selected for funding in the CHANSE Call – Transformations: Social and Cultural Dynamics in the Digital Age.
